HPI China Project Visit by U.S General Consul and Cultural Consul

Mr. Jeffery Moon, the Consul General, and Mr. G. A. Donovan, the Cultural Consul of the U.S Consulate in Chengdu visited Ren Xuping's Rabbit Breeding Center on June 1 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. accompanied by Mr. Chen Taiyong, Country Director of Heifer China.

During the visit, Ren Xuping and his wife introduced the history of their legend of rabbit raising, plans to expand the business, and also expressed their gratitude towards Heifer China for providing them high quality breeding rabbits at the very beginning of their career, the Heifer spirituality of sharing and caring as well. Since 1984, they have kept practicing their skills of rabbit raisin; at the same time, they've kept donating more than 10,000 rabbits to other families in need inside and outside of China. Mr. Chen Taiyong, Country Director, on behalf of Heifer China delivered heartfelt thanks to Ren's for their contribution to HPI and the prosperous community development in Dayi County.

Mr. Ren Xuping's introduction focused on the magic of internet that brings more and more benefit to his business which drew highly interests of consuls. His business was stagnant and the sales decreased sharply during SARS period last year. The buyers couldn't visit his farm or checked the quality of the products by themselves, and he couldn't go to their places to explain and demonstrate. Fortunately, Ren had built a webpage as www.chinarabbitking.com, HPI China Office also provided technical support for the webpage. Plenty of buyers bought his products through his webpage, Ren and his employees just sent their products according to the addresses buyers provided. Due to Ren's outstanding credibility, it was a satisfactory result that the buyers and the seller got what they wanted more efficiently. By now, the web-sell of Ren's products, not only rabbit, also goat, dairy goat, etc. has maken up one sixth of his total sale. Ren Xuping demonstrated to consuls how to log on his webpage with great enthusiasm.

In the afternoon, a small Passing on the Gifts ceremony was held inside Ren's Rabbit Breeding Center. Mr. Jeffery Moon and Mr. Donovan helped the Rens to pass on rabbit gifts to several families. It was a very exciting moment to witness the happy and smiling faces of farmers when they were receiving rabbits from consuls' hands because it could be a starting point for their healthy, wealthy and fulfilling lives. After the short visit to Ren's Rabbit Breeding Center, Mr. Jeffery Moon and Mr. Donovan were greatly impressed by HPI project, and happily accepted the invitation from Mr. Chen Taiyong to visit more heifer projects in the near future.
