The AIDS Project Development Workshop of Heifer China Held in Chengdu

The AIDS Project Development Workshop of Heifer China was held on June 17 th in Chengdu , with topics of discussion and summarization on Heifer China 's effort of combating AIDS with livelihood development project in rural areas. This prepared for future AIDS strategy making. Experts from WHO, AIDS Committee of State Council, Chinese Association of STD Prevention and Control, Sichuan Institute of Social Science and Sichuan University , community representatives and project partners from Heifer's AIDS project, and Heifer China staff presented this workshop.

The participants are introduced with Heifer's project and model, and the AIDS as one Heifer global initiatives, is integrated to Heifer's VBHCD model with base point of livelihood development. This workshop is based on the survey and research on Heifer China 's AIDS projects along with the suggestions and advices from experts, and words from communities. It says that Heifer's exploration and holistic community development model can decrease the AIDS infection largely. Heifer is now working with the grassroots strength, to build capacity, improve lives and skills, strength external communications, care about gender issues, construct healthier environment, therefore to care about the AIDS threatened groups. It will also be supported, shared and spread with the model of holistic and sustainable involvement to economy, policy, rights and benefits, and participation.

Heifer China makes the action plan for next step at the end of the workshop, which includes strengthening development of most likely AIDS infected communities and case studies for experiences support for future action against AIDS.
