Heifer International China Hold 08 Staff Meeting

The Values-Based Holistic Community Development (VBCHD) Model and the establishment of “Self-Help Group” (SHG) have been promoted in Heifer China Program for more than one year. In order to better practice this new model in Heifer China Program, we held the workshops on VBHCD Model in each region and organized numbers of exchange visits and study tours within and between regions, and, at last, established 169 SHGs in Heifer-China program. During this process, we experienced the joyance of success, but also have some new challenge. At this very moment, the convocation of an overall staff meeting is just at the right time.

On, 5th, January, we held the 2-days long staff meeting of FY 2008, during which, we enjoyed not only the hardly-seen sunny day in Chengdu, but also the positive spirit of vigorous Heifer China team. The excitements sharing from each region and departments elevated every one of us, pushing the meeting to the first climax. And then, we shared and discussed our practice of the new model in project community and the development of training materials. What deserves to be mentioned is that we hear many real and touching stories from our co-workers in the field. Their vivid description made us closer to our community and the real changes to the farmers, the trust they gave to us add more incentives to our work. The meeting closed in the heartiest manner and we all will keep on carrying this passion and devoting ourselves in the stirring work of the coming New Year.
