Heifer International China Strategic Workshop on VBHCD Model with government high officials and University/Institution researchers

On December 23-26, 2007, Heifer International China held strategic workshop on VBHCD model in Kunming , Yunnan China . Twenty two participants attended the workshop; the participants included provincial,city and county level government leaders university professors and institution researchers. At the workshop, Heifer China 's current Values Based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD) Model was highly recognized by the participants, especially government high officials. Participants shared the opinions openly especially the analysis of Heifer's VBHCD in current China situation. Many of them expressed they've had deeper understanding of Heifer VBHCD model and will help promote our work and model to related government and decision making agencies when they go back. For Heifer China VBHCD model strategy, the participants gave following suggestions:

Firstly, strengthen the cooperation with government, Heifer China should publish VBHCD model more at higher governmental level, so that the VBHCD model could provide better service for socialism new countyside construction program.

Secondly, join the government's new socialism countryside construction program. Right now, Chinese central government is launching nationwide socialism new countryside construction and harmony society building program, and allocates huge resource accordingly. By promoting VBHCD model in socialism new countryside construction village, Heifer not only can get lots of matching resources from government for village's holistic development, but also can expand the influence and unique poverty alleviation method in government.
