Staff Donation
On December 26, 2004, a terrible tsunami and earthquake attacked South and Southeast Asia , which has caused over 150,000 people died and impacted more than 100 million people in the region. The whole world was deeply in sad. People all over the world donate to help the victims of the disaster. As a relief organization, Heifer International has committed $1 million for programs to provide training, livestock and related help to victims on the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra and elsewhere in the region to rebuild lives and farms over the next few years.
On January 5, 2005, a small donation ceremony was held among Heifer China staff to help the victims of the disaster. For those who lost their families and homes in the disaster, wish them recover from the grievance earlier and rebuild their lives.
Heifer International's Asia South Pacific Region Strategic Planning Workshop and Council Meeting was held February 18 -27 in Kunming , Yunnan Province, China . During the meeting, witnessed by Vice President of Asia/South Pacific Program, Country Director of Heifer China Office, Mr. Chen Taiyong on behalf of all Heifer staff passed on the money donated by staff to Country Directors of Indonesia and Thailand . We truly believe Heifer projects in those disaster-stricken areas will bring more resource and new hope for local people.
