How can I become a volunteer of Heifer China ?

First you have to register. You can download Heifer China Community Volunteer Form (Click here to download this form) and send to volunteer@hpichina.org or fax to +86-28-85564364 after filling it. We will process your information and feed back your volunteer number.

What qualifications are required as a volunteer?

Heifer volunteer positions are for individuals who are able and willing to work in a creative, self-directed manner in seeking opportunities to present Heifer International to the public. Volunteers are expected to initiate contacts within their sphere of influence and/or throughout the community.

More professional skills will be required for different positions or tasks.

How can I join in the activities of the volunteers?

Once we need volunteers, we will post the recruitment information on the website and publish through email. If you are interested, please send application with your volunteer number to us and we will choose the qualified candidate(s).

Does it matter if I am not familiar with the work in Heifer China ?

Basic knowledge about Heifer is required. You can get such information thought our website, brochures, presentations or other means. When you are accepted you will have the detailed guidelines and tasks .

What can I gain from the Heifer's project?

First, you are a front-line partner in the vital work of educating people about the causes of world hunger and poverty and generating support for Heifer's innovative and successful ways of addressing these problems.

Second, you will work in an international NGO. We have good work environment, and intelligent staff. It is also a chance for you to learn and make yourself better. We will provide necessary trainings and related activities for you, like symposia, project visit, workshop, meetings, etc.

What promotion can I get if I have an excellent job in Heifer China volunteer work?

In our special training system, you may have the chance to give training to new volunteers (you may choose to be a trainer for new volunteers) and make contributions with your experience and skills.

What kind of volunteer work do you have?

In our volunteer management system, we divide the volunteers into two groups: full-time or part-time. Full-time volunteers will be working for a certain period of time. You have two ways to participate full-time voluntary work. First we will post the vacancy if we need, or you can refer to the Sichuan Youth Volunteer Internship Program initiated by Partnership for Community Development (PCD) (http:// http://www.scvolunteer.org/).

Part-time voluntary work means specified tasks and tt might only last for few days or you can finish it at home.

Voluntary work in our office can be divided into following fields: administration, project, communication, and etc. You may apply different kinds of work according to your interests and skills.
