Our Impact
In the past over 20 years, Heifer China Program has brought hope, opportunity and
quality life to many needy families in the project areas. It strives to
strengthen community prosperity, family harmony, and self-dignity. It
also promotes a comprehensive agriculture system, develops grass-roots
organizations, utilizes local resources and talents and cares for the
earth.
Heifer China Program has developed a unique model of project development
by adapting the international community development approaches to Chinese
characteristics, so as to help the target groups achieve sustainable development.
The project output encompasses economical, ecological and social indicators.
TSINGHUA UNIVERSITY NGO Research Center conducted a special study on it
and named it as “HPI Model in China”.
The “Heifer model”, particularly “passing on gift”,
has become a well known approach, and applied in many other non-HPI rural
development projects. Many partners have enhanced their capacity through
the implementation of Heifer projects, and are now able to implement larger
projects from government.
On behalf of the Headquarters, Heifer China is in charge of heifer projects
in DPRK. Successively, Heifer China has shipped nearly 7,000 livestock/poultry
and a large amount of animal feed, Veterinary medicine and supplies to
DPRK. In addition, Heifer China has passed on the gift to Nepal and Thailand.
Thus Heifer China program has promoted communication, friendship and mutual
understanding between Chinese and the rest of the world. The needy project
farmers in remote areas can see the world through Heifer Project.
